Exercise: Name five of the main themes of the novel or play.

In the play "An Inspector Calls" are some main points. I think one of them is how does  relationships between different people looks like and works. In the play are different people in different relationships. Sometimes two who have a relationship feel different about it. Here are some of them:

Sheila Briling to Gerald Croft : changed in the story from the feelings love and  trust to angry, unsure and disconfident

Gerald Croft to Sheila Briling : there are most of the time the same feelings: love, hope and the trust in their relationship

Sheila Briling to her parents : changed in the story from the feelings plesant, respect and togheterness to incomprehension and angryness

Eric Birling to Sheila Birling : in the first few pages was not that normal "brother and sister love" but it wasn`t too bad. In the middle of the play it changed to anger cause Sheila told her mother that Eric is an alcoholic. But in the end of the play it changed a second time: they had both the same meaning and were togehter agains the others unsocial behavour.

One other theme is who we sould behave in our daily life. In the play neerly everybod wasn`t really social. And the Inspector is the guy how show that to them and who bring them from their selfhood back to the social understand.

The third theme about which you can read in the book, is the different between women and men. In this time, I think, women had`t much to say. The men were those how bring the Money at home.

The different between rich and poor people is an other topic. In the play was Eva Smith/Daisy Renton which has not much money and how died in the end and the family Briling, witch is rich and hight standing.

An other teme is the war. Mr. Birling, Gerald Croft and Erik had spoken about it, and they had different meanings about this. Mr. Biling said that a war is impossible and Eric disagree with him.
