7. Reading Journal Blog "Prediction and Recount"

Question: At any point of the story take a guess as to how the story will go on or finally conclude. What is going to happen?


 At this point of the story, I had read until page 60, we already know that Sheila, Arthur Birling and Gerald Croft made their part of the suicid of Eva Smith and Daisy Renton. We also know that Sybil Birling also has something witch just the Inspector and herself know. My idea was then that Sybil Birling had an affair with a man years ago and they got a child witch is Eva Smith. And Eric Birling found that out. That`s why he started to drink too much alcohol years ago and why is not too nice to his family while eating dinner. I think he was unsure what he sould do with this informations. Should he keep them for himself or speak with his mother or with his sister or go to the father and sell his mother out. (words 137)

But later it comes out that Sybil Birling was just in the committee were women can go and ask for help. And in this committee Daisy Renton wented to when she was pregnant. But Sybil din`t help her cause she din`t trust Daisy because Daisy use the name "Mrs. Biling" for herself. But later in the story it tourned out that it was half right from Daisy cause the father of her unborn baby was Eric Birling. After that the Inspector leaved the house with saying to the whole family that there will be more of this Eva Smiths in the world and that everybody is resbonsible for everybody. And when men will not learn that then all will end in fire and blood. (words 137)

 After this speach Mr. and Mrs. Birling start discussing about the pubilc scandal that this story will become. Sheila interupt this discusion by saying that she is really disappointed of here family cause they just think of there social live and not of the main part: the death of a young woman. Sheila Briling ask then themself if the Inspector is a real Inspector? But she also say that that`s not important cause the main part is that a person died. Then Gerald come in and say that he asked an police segent if he knows an Inspector with the name  "Google" and he doesn`t know one. So it`s clear that the Inspector isn`t a real Inspector. Arthur Birling phone to the Chief and that man confirmed that there` s no Inspetor with the name "Google". (words 164)

 After hearing this information Gerald ask the other: " How do you know it`s the same girl?" With this he means that the not real Inspetor could have said that it was all the same woman but he isn`t a real Inspector, so why should they belife in his speach? And there`s also the fact that the Inspector could show different photos to the family cause they don`t saw it in the same moment. Gerald bring then the idea to ring up the Infirmary to ask if there was a suicide this afternoon. The Infirmary say him that there was nothing like this for months. Mr. and Mrs. Birling and Gerald are happy and self-satisfied now but Sheila remind them what they all had done is true and it`s just luck that there wasn`t a suicide. Eric agree with her. Gerald ask Sheila then if she want the ring back, but she wouldn`t cause she has to think about it. (words 167)

Then the phone rings. Mr. Briling take it and listen. After he told his family that it was the police and that an Inspector will come to ask some questions cause a woman had died on her way to the Infirmary. She had swallowed some disinfectant. (words 46)

 Julia, this blog is a "little bit" bigger than the others were. Complete there are 651 words in this blog, I`m sorry for that.

    Wow, yes this is a really long entry! You could have just omitted the retelling of everything that happened. I have read the book and am more interested in your guesses than the retelling. Your guess, which should have been the main part, is only 137 words out of over 600. But the guess is interesting and I would have liked to see more of that. In the last entry, please do NO retelling at all :)

    informations --> information only exists in singular in English.
    Daisy Renton wented to when she was pregnant --> Daisy Renton went to when she was pregnant
    After that the Inspector leaved the house --> After that the Inspector left the house
    --> Keep studying irregular verbs!
    speach --> speech (it would be a good idea to write these entries in word first so you have automatic spell checking. That actually helps to learn correct spelling a lot)
    they just think of there social live --> they just think of their social live

4. Reading Journal blog "Recount"

In your own words what happened in the book? At any point of the story, retell the Major Details of the story`s plot so far. Sheila Birling comes in the room.Inspector Google says that not just Arthur Birling is guilty for the death of Eva Smith. Sheila,Sybille, Eric Birling and Gerald Croft were also resbonsible for it. The Inspector told them that Eva Smith hasn`t had a job for two months, but than there was a hard Influence and that was here chance. She gets a very good job in a clothing store with the Name "Milewards". After a couple of months she had to leave the shop, cause a custumer complained about her. Now Google shows the Picture of Eva to Sheila Birling. Sheila regognize the woman on the picture.It turned out that Sheila went to the maneger of the store to dismiss Eva,because she was jelous of the appearance of Eva Smith and that a dress looked much better on Eva then on herself. Sheila repents this unsocial Action very much. 154 words

Question: List the ten most important things about the text you are reading. In the room are now just Arthur Birling and Gerald Croft. They talks about the knighthood Arthur Birling will get soon and that then Lady Coft will like the whole Birling Family more. That would be better for the marriage of Sheila Briling and Gerald Croft. It rings on the door. Edna, the parlourmaid cames into the room and tells them that it`s an Inspector with the name "Google". The Inspector Google comes in, sit down and told them that a young woman, with the name Eva Smith, died in the Infirmary cause she swallowed disinfectant.  Google shows a picture to Arthur Birling. It turned out that Mr. Birling knows Eva Smith cause she worked in his Company two yeras ago.The Inspector wants to know what was going on with Eva in this time.
